These days there are many spam, risky, fishing or virus infected sites which are not safe to surf. 
These sites can misuse our personal information or downloading something from those sites can infect our computer with viruses. We are not able to identify these sites so that we can stop our self to visit those sites. But now it is possible to know which site is safe to visit or which not.
There are many free tools available which will warn you before visiting a site which is not safe. I will show you two tools which will help you to know about site security status.
McAfee Site Advisor one of the most popular site advisor tool which gives advice about site security. After installing this tool it adds a toolbar to your browser like Internet Explorer or 
Firefox etc this toolbar will indicate site status with different color like Green for safe site and Red for site which is not safe to visit. If there is no data for a particular site it suggest you to submit that site for review. Everyday thousands of sites are adding in their database.
Other then toolbar whenever you search with Google, Yahoo!, and MSN etc on result page it shows site status icon next to site titles which will help you to know about site safety.
Web Of Trust (WOT): This tool do same job as Site Advisor. It has some other features which 
make it more users friendly. They have ratings for over 21 million websites. WOT warns you about dangerous links in Gmail, Windows Live Hotmail, and Yahoo! Mail. It adds an icon next to site link with security advice on it.
