AVG No 1????

Sure it's great on windows, but the Linux version sucks big time. First there's the lack of GUI - command line config. You need a major qualification in computers to cope with it.

You're better off with Bit Defender or Avast. Both free and far better.

What "viruses" can you threat driver actually recall yourself upon that can be defended by these sysstems that aren't coming directly from the net using bot nets such as DoS attacks that can happen to a linux box.
These virus programs are useless for linuxx systems and wont save them a bit.
I suggest everyone who comes to this blog not to listen to him and rather check their iptables setups and open ports/services running on your machine which have direct or indirect a connection to the internet they gather information from.
A good way to really really keep your linux box clean is checking with netstat which ips/domains you are connected with and if you cant recognize what these services use a certain port for close the app/service that is using exactly this and recheck your setup. Real threads top a Linux machine only comes from wide open ports and sluggish admins that are to narrowed in their view to keep the system stable rather than getting the updates in and have a _secure_ box. if you are a Admin yourself please start thinking about your update habits for the machnes that matter to you or your company and start making it a habbit to check for updates.
I myself keep my packages updated daily on the machines that matter thanks to the magic of "CRON"

The hell? Linux doesn't need an antivirus. The only thing that would require an antivirus in Linux is if you were using it as a server or sharing files to a Windows computers. Linux is completely locked down as long as you have a good administrator for the box and you don't go executing attachments and all that as root.

Please don't bring the old FUD about Linux that it can get infected by viruses, its just misleading.
