It is much quicker then expected WordPress 2.8 final is available to download. WordPress 2.8 is with improvement in 
themes, widgets, taxonomies, and overall speed and fixed over 790 bugs.
According to WordPress the latest version 2.8 is much faster then before. You can now browse the entire theme directory and install a theme with one click from your WordPress dashboard. In WordPress 2.8 they have completely redesigned the widgets interface to allow you to do things like edit widgets on the fly, have multiple copies of the same widget, drag and drop widgets between sidebars, and save inactive widgets so you don’t lose all their settings.
