This Photoshop Tutorial will help you create a text effect using wood texture. You can use different texture to create awesome text styles.
In this tutorial we would be using various textures and blending options to come with a beautiful wooden textured text like the one displayed below.

Step 1 : Preparation and Text
First of all you would be required to download a few things. Head over to the following links so that you can download the required font and the wooden textures.

Once you have downloaded and installed the font open up Photoshop and set the canvas size to 7.5 by 12 inches. Pick up the text tool and use the following details for your text.
Step 2 : Vector Mask
Now bring in Texture 1, previously downloaded, onto the canvas. Re-size the image according to the size of the text. In the layer palette place the texture layer right at the top. Now press “CTRL” and left click on the Text layer. This would automatically load the selection of the text area. Now go to the texture layer and hit the “Add Vector Mask” button in the layer palette highlighted in the image. Rename the layer Base-Layer
Step 3 : Inner Glow
In the layer palette, right click on Base-Layer and choose “Blending Options”. Choose Inner Glow and input the following details.
Step 4 : Bevel and Emboss
Now choose Bevel and Emboss and use the following details.
Step 5 : Texture 2
Now bring Texture 2 on to the canvas. In the layer palette move the layer right on top. Now press “CTRL” and left click on the Text layer. This would automatically load the selection of the text area. Now go to the texture layer and hit the “Add Vector Mask” button. Change the blending mode of the layer to “Lighter Color”.
Step 6 : Expand
Now press CTRL and left click on the text layer. This would again load the selection of the text. Now in the menu go to “Select”, “Modify” and choose the “Expand” option. Now create a new layer and color the selection white. Bring the layer below the Base-Layer. Change the blending options of the layer to Soft-Light. Rename the file Expanded-Layer.
Step 7 : Inner Glow
Now go the “Blending Options” of the layer and choose Inner Glow. Use the following details.
Step 8 : Bevel and Emboss
Now choose the Bevel and Emboss option and use the following details.
Step 9 : Texture
Now include the third texture on to the canvas. Be sure to download a rough, grungy texture from the website. Re-size the image image according to the text. Press “CTRL” and left click on the Expanded-Layer. Once the selection has been loaded, go to the newly added texture layer and press the “Add Vector Mask” button. In the layer palette move this layer right at the bottom.
Step 10 : Final Touch
Now that you have the basic skeleton out in the open, you can play around with the colors, lighting and other effects to add more depth to the image.
